The Anderson Island Summer Nature Adventure Camp is an annual event sponsored by the Anderson Island Park and Recreation District. Children that participate must be between 6 and 11 years old. The event occurs entirely on Anderson Island.
The objective is to acquaint children with their natural surroundings on land, fresh water, and in the marine environment using a hands-on, interactive approach to learning. The children will encounter marine animals from above and below the low tide line, and learn about scientific methods.
There is a high adult to child ratio with many parents participating, along with Park District Commissioners, teachers, divers, citizens of Anderson Island and educators from the Nisqually Nature Center. Parents are encouraged to assist by leading or helping lead small groups of children.
2022 REGISTRATION: Opens April 1 for children who are island residents. Open enrollment for all begins May 1. This event qualifies for SEEK scholarships, so if you have kiddos who are permanent residents of the island, get more information on getting this event for FREE.
