These Rules and Regulations are intended to assure the public that the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District (hereinafter called AIPRD), located in Pierce County Washington, will operate and maintain recreation lands and facilities in a safe and attractive condition for the use and enjoyment of all members of the public without discrimination.
These rules and regulations shall apply to all property owned and/or operated by the AIPRD including Andy’s Wildlife Park (including the off-leash dog exercise area), Andrew Anderson Marine Park, Cammon Field and Trail (New School), Montalvo Park, The Old Schoolhouse (Wide Awake Hollow), Tom White Park, Lowell Johnson Park (The Ol’ Swimming Hole), Saint Anne’s Woods, and any additional properties the AIPRD shall acquire and designate as parks.

Any person, except persons specifically authorized by the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District Board, or other persons authorized by law, shall be prohibited from entering, going upon or remaining upon any property outside the established hours of operation; or property that has been designated and posted by the AIPRD as a “no admittance” or “closed to use” or “no trespassing” area.

It is unlawful for any person while upon or within property of the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District to:
All laws, rules and regulations of the State of Washington relating to WAC 332-52-145 Fire Arms and Target Shooting, and Chapter 9.41 RCW, FIREARMS AND DANGEROUS WEAPONS are also applicable and will be enforced.

Dogs, other pets, horses and domestic animals are generally prohibited upon and within properties of the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District, with the following exceptions:
Camping upon or within property of the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District is by permit only, and as provided for in Section 17.

Non-motorized vehicles, including cycles, scooters, rollerblades, and skateboards, but excluding wheelchairs, are generally prohibited upon and within properties of the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District, with the following exceptions:
Anderson Island Park & Recreation District facilities are operated and maintained for the public’s use and enjoyment. These facilities are generally available without reservations or fees to individual persons or groups for activities and events consistent with the rules and regulations of the AIPRD. However, the Anderson Island Park and Recreation District reserves the right to establish and impose fees as deemed appropriate.
Special uses of AIPRD properties and facilities not otherwise allowed by the general rules and regulations for park use may be authorized by the Board of Commissioners on a case by case basis by permit or contract with the requesting party. Special uses may include, but are not limited to overnight use, reserved use for profit and nonprofit special events, and commercial use of facilities consistent with AIPRD policy and goals. A use, participation or rental fee and/or damage deposit may be charged by the District in instances where special use may result in additional expenses to the District for administration, utilities, maintenance, upkeep, supervision or security.
The Anderson Island Park & Recreation District will require an agreement to indemnify the District against all loss or damages arising from or out of a special use permit or contract. As a condition of special use, the District may also require a surety bond or liability insurance with the District named as an additional insured party.
To be considered, a request for park special use must be submitted in writing to the Anderson Island Park & Recreation District Board of Commissioners at 11407 Old Brolin Place, Anderson Island, WA 98303, no less than 45 calendar days prior to the beginning date of the planned event or activity.
The Anderson Island Park & Recreation District is a duly formed and authorized municipal corporation as defined in RCW 36.69.130. The District has the power to, among other things, make and enforce rules and regulations governing the use of property, facilities or equipment and the conduct of persons thereon, and to make or establish charges, fees, rates, rentals and the like for the use of facilities (including recreational facilities) or for participation.
Failure to comply with these rules and regulations, or with any other federal, state or local law, rule or regulation applicable under the circumstances, shall subject the person so failing to submit to ejection from any property, and possible prosecution by the civil authority having jurisdiction. Violations of rules or regulations adopted by a park and recreation district for the preservation of order, control of traffic, protection of life or property, or for the regulation of the use of park property constitute misdemeanors in accordance with RCW 36.69.180.
Anderson Island Park & Recreation District rules and regulations are designed to be consistent with federal, state or local law, rule or regulation. Any rule or regulation that is inconsistent with federal, state or local law or found to be otherwise void shall not affect the application of all other valid rules and regulations. Patrons are ultimately responsible to ensure that their conduct is within the law of whichever civil authority has jurisdiction, regardless of compliance with AIPRD property rules and regulations.
